THE LUXURY OF 'NOT KNOWING'.

MEDIUM ink on paper SIZE 24 x 17 cm

Coincidental

Where did I start? I think I started with the brush, with those planes. And then I went through them with ink. Something like this piece comes about while experimenting with line width, the relationship between surfaces and white space and... from a sort of gut feeling. This is where my personal skill and preference, coincidence and playfulness come together again.

And then I discover that, to me, this is a wondrous abstract work! But, what is it?

Creating without knowing!

When I look back on it now, the word energy pops up. Is energy being transmitted? Are strings being played? I feel tension, or charge. At the same time, it makes me think of the visualisation of a mechanism. Something manufactured, industrial.

But in the end, it does not matter to me if it is something you can't identify, or know. I allow myself ‘not knowing’ what I sometimes create. And that feels like luxury to me!
