Making a portrait painting therefore starts for me with a meeting. This way I get further than just capturing someone's appearance.

ANIMAL PORTRAIT
I find painting and 'capturing' the character of animals just as fascinating. I love listening to the stories about the role they play in the family and the connection with their owner.
I like to pay a lot of attention to getting as close as possible. A few hours together is necessary to take several hundred photos. From these, the most characteristic reference photos are selected for an optimal reference.

OWN WORK
I don't shy away from research. Often I come across something that piques my interest and challenges me to draw or paint it. Light, composition and design regularly play the leading role. Pushing boundaries in terms of color use, touch or abstraction is what keeps me sharp and develops, which in turn benefits the layering of the portraits.
